The Jr. High Youth rally is tomorrow! Woo hoo!!! And I just remembered that it's Friday today... so as Catholics, we are not eating meat today (yet, fish is acceptable). But fasting is not just about giving up food. In today's first reading from Isaiah 58, we are told fasting is more than meager sacrifices.
This, rather, is the fasting that I wish:releasing those bound unjustly...;Setting free the oppressed...;Sharing your bread with the hungry,sheltering the oppressed and the homeless;Clothing the naked when you see them,and not turning your back on your own...Then you shall call, and the LORD will answer,you shall cry for help, and he will say: Here I am!
Don't ignore a need. If you see something or someone who needs help, do something! Serve Him by serving others in need.
